Umran Malik’s aggressive performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has ignited the internet (SMAT).

The J&K-born bowler is consistently bowling at speeds of over 150 km/h during the competition. On Friday of last week, he bowled a scorching performance for Jammu and Kashmir against Maharashtra. He took four significant wickets, including Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of Maharashtra. Malik ultimately completed his outstanding tenure with 4/27.

The 22-year-old was selected as a net bowler for India’s T20 World Cup campaign. His visa problems however had other plans for him, shattering his hopes.

In June’s match against the Proteas, Umran Malik received his first call-up to India.

Before being cut from the team, the 22-year-old rookie participated in two T20I series against England and Ireland.

A season ago, he set a new record for the youngest player to take 20 wickets in the IPL. During a match-winning spell for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Umran Malik increased his career total to 21 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah’s 2017 record was broken by him.

At 22 years and 176 days old, Umran Malik. When the IPL 2017 began, Jasprit Bumrah, who is 23 years and 165 days old, became the bowler with the most wickets (20). When RP Singh took 20 wickets in the IPL 2009, he was 23 years and 166 days old. Similarly, Pragyan Ojha reached the milestone in IPL 2010 at the age of 23 years, 225 days.

After bowling his first 20th over and taking three wickets against Punjab Kings, Umran Malik broke another IPL record.

Earlier, a Sunrisers Hyderabad player made history by being the only fourth bowler to throw a first-ever 20th over in IPL history. The achievement was accomplished by Irfan Pathan, Lasith Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat.

Umran, a bowler retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2022, is already among the fastest in India. Although he has delivered balls at speeds of over 150 kph this season, the Jammu and Kashmir player has only taken three wickets in four games, giving up 10.42 runs per over.

For Rs 4 crore, SRH kept him on as well as Jammu and Kashmir natives Abdul Samad and captain Kane Williamson.
