The Journey Since 2022
We launched Koshur Dude back in 2020 with a massive goal: to bring the best of Kashmir to the world. We are more connected to the rest of the globe now than ever before, and we wanted to put our stories on the map.
In the beginning, we tried to cover absolutely everything. The desk was producing daily news articles on current affairs, entertainment, politics, education, business, and history, while also attempting to balance memes and satirical humor on the side.
The Reality Check
To be completely honest with you, running a 24/7 daily news desk as a lean, independent operation is unsustainable. Trying to keep up with every single breaking update meant we couldn’t focus deeply on any of them. It became clear that volume was compromising our editorial standards.
The platform took a necessary hiatus to figure out what actually matters. During that time, we realized something important: the internet today doesn’t need more noise. You don’t need another website rushing to tell you the exact same generic news update you already saw on five different Facebook pages.
You need context. You need the truth. And sometimes, you just need a really good laugh.
The New Focus: Quality Over Quantity
The desk recently performed a ruthless cleanup of the site. We archived tens of outdated daily news posts. Instead of spreading our resources thin trying to report on everything manually, we decided to pivot. Our goal is to focus entirely on quality over quantity.
Moving forward, Koshur Dude is dedicated entirely to high-effort, deep-dive content about the Valley. Here is what you can expect from the new era:
